Admission Clerk/Telephone Operator
Crittenden Community Hospital has an immediate opening for Part-time/PRN Admissions Clerk.

JOB SUMMARY:

Schedule, process and admit patients to the hospital on patient's account. Operate switchboard for hospital in order to provide routine information and direct calls to appropriate areas. Upfront collections on Self-Pay non-emergent patient.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Schedule elective admissions to medical floors and alert appropriate departments to emergency admissions. Prepares and enter into the computer admission data and ensure that insurance information is completed.
2.Receive patient and obtain information. Do the same for emergency patients in emergency room. Ensure patient or guardian understands and signs consent and insurance forms. Prepare identification bracelet. Arrange for safekeeping of patients valuables. Arrange for transport of patients to patient room or other hospital department.
3.Explain to patient and/or family member the Advance Directive, Medicare information.
4.Compile and distribute information regarding patient�s personal, insurance, and financial status. Provide appropriate forms to billing and other departments. Compile daily census and inpatient admission and distribute to appropriate departments. Ensure signatures are obtained according to medical-legal guidelines.
5.Assist the assigning beds on patient preference, diagnosis, age and condition.
6.Collect deposit for all services rendered.
7.Pre-admit outpatient surgery patients. Assemble outpatient surgery chart.
8.Post charges daily to patient accounts.
9.Dispatch ambulance and maintain ambulance log per departmental policy.
10.On designated shifts, calculates daily census and verifies accuracy of nursing unit census listing.
11.Beep or page on-call employees and doctors.
12.Channel all incoming calls; provide direct numbers as required. Connect inside callers with long distance lines when appropriate.
13.Respond to emergency calls following established protocols.
14.Assist caller by using voice page as necessary, or any other mean needed.
15.Maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety environmental and infection control.
16.Assist in care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies. Maintain stock level of supplies. Alert supervisor to malfunction of equipment and/or call maintenance repair.
17.Attend inservice and other required meetings. Attend educational programs as directed.
18.Maintain department records, reports and files as required.
19.Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.
20.Provide telephone service to employees. Take telephone message for employees.
21.Perform other related duties as assigned.
22.Must attend all Mandatory Inservices

EDUCATION, TRAINING, OR EXPERIENCE:
1.High School diploma preferred.
2.Computer, filing and office practice experience preferred.
3.Good oral and written communication skills.
