We are currently seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for our Nursing Department for Full-time 7a-7p & 7p-7a.
JOB SUMMARY:
Works under the direction of a qualified professional nurse. Participates in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care, within the objectives, standards and policies of the department and within the parameters of his or her preparation. Cooperates with the members of the nursing and medical staffs and other hospital departments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Provides direct and individualized nursing care to an assigned group of patients based on
the application of scientific principles, under the supervision of a registered professional nurse.
2.Assists in preoperative, postoperative, and relevant health teaching for patient and family.
3.Shares responsibility for the planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care
plans and nursing care.
4.Participates in team conferences, sharing knowledge, information and ideas among team
members.
5.Prepares, administers, and records medications in accordance with the policy regarding
the administration of medications by a Licensed Practical Nurse.
6.Performs more-complex nursing activities as competence increases.
7.Participates in emergency care.
8.Communicates frequently with the Team Leader regarding patients' physical and mental
conditions.
9.Records information concisely, accurately and completely.
10.Identifies and utilizes appropriate channels of communication.
11.Constructively participates in appropriate committees with the Nursing Department
and/or the hospital.
12.Prepares sterile and non-sterile dressing changes and performs other treatments when
indicated.
13.Assists in examinations, special tests and procedures by doctor or RN.
14.Provides for patient safety.
15.Answers call lights, assists patients with personal hygiene and other activities of daily
living.

18.Complies with all applicable state and federal laws and conducts job activities in an

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Floats as requested by the Nursing Supervisor or designee.
2.Assists in the orientation of new personnel when requested.
3.Participates in the provision of daily patient activities when indicated.
4.Maintains an attractive and comfortable environment for patients with special
consideration to the cleanliness of room, ventilation and lighting.
5.Attends and participates in all mandatory nursing department meetings, unless prior
approval for absence is obtained.
6.Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Current license to practice nursing in Kentucky.
2.BLS certification
3.ACLS
4.PALS
EDUCATION, TRAINING OR EXPERIENCE:
1.Demonstrates competency in clinical skills and knowledge pertinent to the practice and education of a Licensed Practical Nurse while administering nursing care for prenatal, neonates, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
2.Demonstrates an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturation process as appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
3.Must meet state licensure educational requirements, if applicable
